Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Since 2012, I have been working professionally - both as an employed staff member and freelancer - in a range of editorial and content positions. My employers and clients have also been varied, including environmental NGOs, entertainment news startups, software localisation and content marketing. Included below is an overview of some of my major editorial experience and some examples of my work.
RESET International
RESET International is the English language version of RESET.org, a Berlin-based environmental NGO specialising in news reporting on technological and digital solutions to environmental and social concerns. Backed by the German Bundesministerium für Umwelt (Federal Environmental Agency), RESET creates weekly news content, in both English and German, as well as larger special reports into new, and often, divisive topics, such as the use of drones, satellites and artificial intelligence.
I have worked with RESET on a freelance basis since late 2017, providing weekly articles covering a wide range of issues and topics. In addition to writing and formatting my articles, I also usually source myself from a range of outlets. In my time with RESET I have written about everything from fusion energy, to dolphin conservation to space travel. Often, I am required to become well acquainted with relatively new and emerging concepts in only a short time. The content is largely technical, and formal in tone, with a heavy emphasis on constructive journalism, impartiality and transparency. In addition to producing content, I also translate German articles to English and conduct interviews with sources.
In summer 2021, I was asked to take over from the departing editor and expand my work at RESET. I now edit all other articles submitted to the English site, as well as organise social media, communications and the content schedule.
