“Mark is very knowledgeable on the subject. I have some basic understanding of this period, and it was great (in Mark's words) to "nerd out" on the subject. Mark takes his time to answer every question. As a bonus he knows some great places to get some nice Berliner streetfood, so do not, I repeat, do NOT take your home made sandwiches with you. Cheers!”

“Highly recommend touring with Mark! He was extremely knowledgeable and engaging. I never once got bored during the 3.5 hour tour. We visited many key Berlin WWII sites, including some that aren't officially marked. Mark was responsive to each person's questions. The bakery rest stop halfway through was well timed and kept us going for the rest of the afternoon. My husband and I both enjoyed the tour immensely.”

“Fantastic tour. Mark has an impressive level of knowledge and I was so fortunate to have experienced Berlin with him. Besides the tour, he was especially willing to offer recommendations of things to do both before and during my trip, which I appreciated. A tour with Mark is a must for anyone visiting Berlin. - Aaron, March 2020”

“I purchased this tour as a gift for my parents that were visiting from Las Vegas and they WILL NOT STOP TALKING ABOUT HOW GREAT MARK IS!!! They had a wonderful time and learned so much they were especially impressed with the fact that Mark was able to keep the groups' undivided attention for 4 hours and they never felt he was just filling the time or at a loss for information to give. I can recommend 100% :)”

“Very much enjoyed the tour, very knowledgeable, Mark could have handled any questions, have real knowledge and insight, really improved my understanding of the Battle of Berlin and Berlin itself. Best history tour I've been on.”

“This tour is not simply about the April 1945 ‘Götterdämmerung’, it covers so many topics - military history, architecture, geography of the city, imperial Germany, the Weimar years, Hitler’s regime and its end in a shallow hole by a petrol fueled blaze. Mark ended up giving us a longer than planned walk ending at sunset at the Bundestag, perfect! Personable, passionate, endlessly knowledgeable about the topic he made everyone welcome. He showed pictures that really tied the locations we passed through into the historical events. I’d take my friends on the walk with Mark again.”

“This was a seriously worthwhile experience. It is listed as Battle of Berlin but is so much more. Mark started with a précis of WWII that was really impressive- he manages to give enough of an outline that is a real scaffold to those with minimal knowledge without being condescending to those who have a decent level of background to the history. It proved to be indicative of what followed throughout the walking tour. The first thing historians have to do is tell the story and Mark does it very effectively. This tour does so much more than cover just the Battle for Berlin. Mark not only covers in the tour considerable aspects of post-war Berlin but is happy to share both his historical knowledge and his own insights into the post-war and current period. A four-hour walking tour may seem daunting but - as with any valued experience - the time flew. Don’t hesitate. This will leave you with a valuable understanding of the modern history of Berlin, its importance to Germany, and why you have bothered to be here at all.”

“This tour was amazing! Mark is a superb tour guide with a plethora of knowledge and passion. The information went so deep, you could imagine being in the spaces in the historical times he told us about. The old photographs and supplementary materials helped with that of course. The photographs and the general information could have been found in a museum, but being able to see the actual buildings and battlegrounds in person at the same time as seeing the pictures made it much more real. Mark was incredibly friendly and open and shared information about the city currently as well as personal tips and tricks. We loved it and would strongly recommend to all.”

“A ten star tour! Mark was an amazing host and my husband and I learned so much. Mark brought the history of Berlin - Battle of Berlin and WWII - to life, showing us and telling us things that we would never have experienced on a large tour. Mark is super knowledgeable and is an enthusiastic historian. I learned more in one afternoon than I ever have in any classroom. If there is one tour to take - this is it!”

“One of the best experiences I’ve had in Europe so far. I am an enthusiast of the WWII subject and we now feel like I know more about it from the German view of things. Never had I imagined how it would have been like to live through some of the events of the battle of Berlin and now I can at least say I feel a little closer to those people. I appreciate the effort Mark does to carry you in time to that moment. Absolutely recommend it.”

“My husband and I have been on many historical walks before but this is one of the most comprehensive ones we've had and consider it the one of our best memories of Berlin. Mark was very friendly and made what could have been a grim topic insightful, enlightening, and often humorous. He also gave us some tidbits of information on Berlin not related to the tour. It sounded good before we went on the trip and now I can say if history is your bag (and you also want to hit some of the main points of interest), you don't want to miss this!”

“The walk with Mark was truly a highlight of my trip to Berlin. To get the obvious out of the way, he was very friendly and knowledgeable. But what really made this experience special was how it was thoughtfully arranged around the theme of Russia’s arrival into Berlin. By guiding us to specific spots along the path and showing us pictures taken from the same spots in the aftermath of the war, he made the stories as immersive and memorable as possible. It was a truly enriching experience, one that I would recommend to any visitors interested in history.”
